At Interpack, we develop sustainable packaging in paperboard and micro-corrugated cardboard, materials that stand out for their natural origin, biodegradability, and key role in the circular economy.
Unlike other non-recyclable or slow-degrading materials, paperboard is a biodegradable, compostable, and recyclable resource, derived from renewable cellulose fibers and post-consumer material. Cellulose in its industrial form degrades in less than 18 months, contributing organic compounds to the soil without leaving contaminating micro-residues, as occurs with plastic materials. Furthermore, paperboards with a high percentage of recycled fiber activate a circular economy model that provides formalized employment opportunities and transforms post-consumer materials into new goods.

Packaging made from paperboard and micro-corrugated cardboard can be reprocessed and recycled multiple times throughout its useful life. However, to maintain structural strength and resource availability, it is necessary to incorporate virgin fibers.
Forest certification guarantees that virgin fibers come from responsibly managed forests. The printed FSC or PEFC chain-of-custody logo on the packaging is a guarantee that the packaging is made with wood from certified forests.
The circular cycle makes cellulosic material packaging a sustainable alternative for brands looking to reduce their environmental impact without compromising packaging design and functionality.
